Case study for
Durbanville Shooting Club
WordPress Website Redesign
Introduction
The Durbanville Shooting Club reached out to modernize their outdated website and streamline its functionality. They wanted to remove unused features and focus on practical updates that would enhance their members’ experience and attract new ones.
Project Overview
Key upgrades included a “Become a Member” page with easy-to-understand membership requirements and fees, a newsletter signup integrated with Mailchimp, and a Google Map feature with street view for easy navigation to the club. This redesign prioritized usability, clear information, and modern web standards to create an engaging and user-friendly site.

My Role
As the lead designer and project manager for the Durbanville Shooting Club website redesign, I spearheaded both the strategic planning and design execution. My responsibilities included conducting an initial site audit to assess outdated features, consulting with the client to define new functionalities, and designing a visually modern, intuitive interface.
Planning & Research
To ensure that the new website truly met the Durbanville Shooting Club’s needs, I began by researching both the club's industry and its operational requirements. This included learning about the structure and functionality of shooting clubs to better understand what members and prospective members might seek in a website. I also familiarized myself with Mailchimp’s audience segmentation capabilities to integrate an effective newsletter solution tailored to the club’s needs. Additionally, I worked closely with the club to establish a cohesive brand identity, incorporating their colour scheme throughout the design for a consistent and visually appealing user experience.
