WordPress Theme Upgrade
The client reached out to me in need of a WordPress expert with experience in WooCommerce. Their goal was to enhance their online store’s functionality and user experience, seeking tailored solutions to optimize their eCommerce platform effectively.

Project Overview
The client aimed to have all their products listed on the website, organized into categories based on different industries. Additionally, they wanted to streamline the checkout process, integrating it onto a single page to enhance user convenience. The inclusion of content sliders was also a priority to showcase featured products and promotions effectively.
My Role
My role involved creating an engaging design that catered to the entire customer journey, ensuring that every step was thoughtfully considered to enhance user experience. Additionally, I focused on improving the website’s backend by removing unused plugins, themes, and other elements that could hinder performance. This optimization aimed to create a streamlined, efficient platform that supports both the client’s goals and their customers’ needs.
Challenges
A major challenge involved significant time and discussion around the categorization of products. Determining the best way to showcase items based on type, material, and industry required careful consideration to ensure an intuitive structure. Additionally, since there was no pricing displayed on the site or for the products, we opted for a quote-based approach instead of a traditional payment system. This added complexity to the project but was essential for meeting the client’s needs.
The Process
Planning & Research
My planning phase involved researching various shop filters for WordPress to enhance product discoverability. I focused on how to best guide users through the shopping experience, considering ways to create depth within the site. This included strategies for helping users find products even if they were unsure of their specific needs, such as distinguishing between materials like plastic and bamboo. The goal was to develop an intuitive navigation system that would simplify the search process and lead to better customer engagement.

Reflection
I learned that having a backup of the site during development is crucial. It provides a safety net that allows for easy recovery if issues arise or changes need to be reverted. Understanding how to manage and revert changes effectively can save significant time and effort, ensuring a smoother development process.
